2025 Lifetime Achievement Award![]() Edward Klatt, MD Dr. Edward Klatt has been involved with health science education for over 47 years with his research interests being in medical education. He develops teaching materials, which are deployed in multiple active learning and team settings: problem-based learning, case-based learning, and team-based learning. His focus is on facilitating the advancement of medical education with information management and critical thinking through a team-based approach. His commitment to professional education and training have been vital to API’s commitment to pathology informatics education. He has been a vital supporter of the annual PI Summit by funding trainee travel grants to the meeting. API is grateful for Dr. Klatt’s continued dedication to API’s training and education efforts. The Association for Pathology Informatics proudly announces Dr. Edward Klatt as the recipient of the 2025 API Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring his remarkable and sustained contributions to pathology informatics. With over 47 years of dedication, Dr. Klatt has made a lasting impact to medical education. For 26 years, he has developed WebPath, an online resource with more than 100 million accesses annually. He authored Pathology of HIV/AIDS, now in its 31st edition, and has contributed to four of the seven widely used Robbins & Cotran pathology texts. His work in curriculum design and active learning at Mercer University emphasizes integrating clinical and basic science through innovative teaching methods like problem-based and team-based learning. In addition, Dr. Klatt has been a committed supporter of API, contributing to the Travel Awards program and in consistent service as a judge for scientific posters at the PI Summit. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing the field and fulfilling API's mission to drive progress through informatics. |
